Making medical-looking cranial helmets a thing of the past...

When my daughter was diagnosed with plagiocephaly I was devastated. All I thought about was how people would respond to her wearing a helmet. I figured people would probably look at her like there was something wrong with her and I hated the idea of people pointing and staring.

When I saw several websites on cranial helmets I was even more distraught, they were so "medical" and boring.  My little Ellie is far from boring, so I researched a little more and found that some parents actually decorate the helmets.  As a graphic designer there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to add some spunk to my daughters new medical necessity.

Once we had it fitted, I was ready to design.  I was determined to change this medical device into a fashion accessory.  My daughter's helmet was going to be as fun loving as she is.  And that's exactly what I did. Instead of people looking at her like there is something wrong with her people feel more open to ask questions and always compliment on the decor.  It's covered in paint, hearts, rhinestones, butterflies, and sparkles.  It's absolutely adorable!

I know a lot of people are intimidated by decorating these helmets.  Many people say "Well I'm not crafty enough to do that," or "I don't know what materials to use or what is safe."  That's why I have decided to offer my services to those who want their child's helmet to look more fun and interesting than medical.

I use all child-safe, non-toxic materials.  I use a special process with a sealer that is water resistant and very durable.  Each helmet has 10-20 coats of special non-toxic water-based sealer.

I do custom styles, names, phrases, etc. Once I receive the helmet it will take an average of 5-7 days to complete, as it is a lengthy process to paint, decorate, seal, and dry. I can email you photos of the progress if you wish. Let me know what you want and I'll try and figure a way to do it! Pricing on helmets will vary depending on what you are looking to do.

I will soon have a basic price list to help you have an estimated cost.
